Ihka ekat roomboxit lähenevät valmistumistaan

Ministelynukkisteluharrastus on saanut pienimuotoista potkua viimeaikoina kun olen värkkäillyt paria swappitavara-aiheista boksia vitriiniin. Näissä oli ideana laittaa näytille ja "varastoida" jollain mukavalla tavalla kaikki ne tavarat jotka olen saanut lahjaksi, vaihdossa tai jotka olen joskus jostain ostanut (ja ehkä hieman tuunannut). Seassa on muutama perushuonekalu, jotka jouduin rakentelemaan ihan vaan jotta kokonaisuus olisi kuitenkin eheä. Tällaisia tavaroita olivat keittiön liesituuletinhylly, uuni/liesi, jääkaappi, keittiötaso, parvisänky ja keittiönpöytä. Vintille olen pykännyt kaksi tavarahyllyä tavaroita varten, ja muutaman puulaatikon varastointia varten. Muutoin irtaimisto on monen taitavan käden jälkeä. Niin monen, joten en valitettavasti saa tähän jokaiikkaa nimettyä, tiedätte kuitenkin keitä olette ja suuret kiitokset teille näistä! Aiemmista blogipostauksista voi myös hieman bongailla kuka on lähettänyt ja mitä (myös viimejoulun puuttuvista swappiluukuista on tulossa takautuvasti postaus kohta puoliin, jotta kaikki olisi ainakin jollain tavoin mainittuna). 

Tässä siis hieman mummohtava yksiö:

Yksiön veski on rajattu kuvasta nyt pois, koska sieltä puuttuu vielä vessakalusto. Kuvaan sen erikseen sitten kun se valmistuu. Hellasta tuli ruskea, koska valkoinen massa sattui olemaan niin vähissä. Tykkäsin että se sopii tähän huusholliin ihan tuollaisenaankin.

Tässä vinttihuone. Viistokattoa kannattelee tässä kuvassa vielä pari palaa maalarinteippiä kun se on vastikään kiinnitetty paikoilleen. Teipit eivät siis kuulu vakiovarustukseen vaan lähtevät poies kunhan liima on kuivunut. Mie vaan hätäilin ottamaan näitä kuvia. ;D

Että tällaista tällä kertaa. Tiistaina tai hieman sen jälkeen päivittelen taas uutta keramiikkaa eetteriin. Siihen asti heippa hei!

Progress Report: Posliinia - Porcelain

Note to self: Porcelain-paper clay, not suitable for throwing...
Posliinipaperisavi ei sovellu dreijaamiseen...

Aloitin syksyn kurssien joukossa posliinimaalauksen ja sitä varten piti sitten keramiikkakurssilla koettaa vääntää posliinisia aihioita. Varsinaista posliinisavea luokasta ei löytynyt hetsillään, joten piti varoituksista huolimatta kokeilla pystyykö posliinipaperisavea dreijaamaan. No, eihän sitä oikein pystynyt. Jotain väkeröä sai armottoman väännön seurauksena aikaiseksi, mutta dreijaaminen oli varsin työlästä ja trimmaaminen sitäkin kamalampaa. Näihin voi varmaan ihan hyvin harjoitella sitä posliinimaalaamista, kun täysi noviisi kuitenkin siinä hommassa olen. ;)

Keramiikan opettaja oli niin mukava, että tilasi minulle sittemmin tähän käyttöön sopivampaa posliini(kivitavarasekoite)savea, jota oli ilo dreijata ja josta pitäisi myös niinikään tulla poltossa täysin valkoista. Se oli myös puolet halvempaa kuin posliinisavi, joten sopi passelisti kukkarolleni. Laitan niistä tuotoksista kuvia myös kunhan valmistuvat.

I thought I'd give painting porcelain a try this year so I decided to make some miniature stuff for that in my ceramics class. These were thrown from porcelain-paper clay (not sure what the actual term for it is, but it's porcelain clay with paper fibres mixed into it so it's easier to sculpt), which was definitely not a joy to throw because of its consistency. It was also kinda horrendous to trim since crumbs broke loose even when I tried to be careful. Basically it was pretty much a disaster all around.
Fortunately my ceramics teacher ordered another type of clay for me to use and it was much nicer to throw on the wheel. It's a mixture of porcelain and regular stone goods clay, but it should end up white once it's fired. So basically it should look the same as regular porcelain, but it was only half the price)! I'll post pictures of that sometime later.

Progress Report - Treehouse Parts

Not sure if this is informative at all, but here are some of the pieces of the treehouse I'm building. The next step is to apply some wood stain to the sticks there on the right as they'll be used as cladding. I spent today's class sanding the edges so that they'll look at least a little bit like hewn logs once I glue them on.

I've got the PMMA for the windows ready (I just need to fit it once I've stained everything), but I need to make the doors too... That's going to be tricky. I should have hinges lying around somewhere, but I have no idea where they are... Once all the cladding is on, as well as the windows and the window frames and doors, I'll finally be able to glue it all together. Then all that's left are the porch, the chimney and the roof tiles, and of course the tree itself along with some stairs. It's pretty far from being finished, but I wanted to show you I'm making progress, even if it's slow.

Progress Report - No piccies to show

So yeah, no pictures to show this time, but I just wanted to let you know this fall's first batch of minipottery is now in the kiln. I'll get to see them finished on Wednesday (so if they look OK, you'll get pictures then). Also, my dollhouse is coming along, slowly but surely. I've cut the walls and they've got holes for widows and doors. I'm going to post pictures once the windows and maybe doors are in and there's cladding.

I'm also working on the Christmas Calendar Swap for this year. Almost all the slots are full now, but if anyone's still interested, let me know. I only ship to Finland, though, so there's probably no point in me writing about it in English... If you don't know Finnish and you've been wondering what those swap posts have been about, well, that was it. I'm doing swap stuff.

Also, the reason why I haven't been redecorating or doing stuff to the current dollhouse (cabinet apartment as I call it) is that I'm going to have to move again by the end of the year. I can't bring myself go through the trouble just to put it all back into a box so soon. I'll get back to that once I've moved again.

Eijole ny kuvia näyttää, mutta keskiviikoksi pitäisi tulla minikeramiikkaa uunista. Nukketalon rakennus on edennyt siihen pisteeseen, että seinät on paloina ja niissä on reiät ikkunoille ja oville. Otan kuvia kun olen asentanut ikkunat ja vuorannut seinät Biltema-tikuilla. Joulukalenterijutukkeet ovat työnalla. Voin ottaa vielä pari luukkua jos jotakuta kiinnostaa. Tän kuun loppuun asti olis aikaa ilmoitella ainakin. Syy miksi blogissa ei ole ollut pitkiin aikoihin kuvia nukketalon (vitriiniasunnon) sisältä on että joudun kohta muuttamaan uudestaan eikä siksi ole tehnyt mieli tehdä mitään asian eteen. Palaan siihen muuton jälkeen.

Progress Report - Planning a House

This is the current draft. I still haven't measured everything and I have to miss class (it's a workshop type of thing for making doll houses) next week, so actually getting started is still going to take a while... The plan is that it's going to sit on top / between some tree branches like a proper tree house. In case you can't read my scribbles, it's going to be in scale with Ernest (more or less, he's kinda not in any scale) or pukipuki (~11cm tall). Room height around 16cm.

Progress Report - Pottery Time!

Ceramics classes have started again. The first batch (5 hrs worth) looks kinda crappy, but oh well... gotta start somewhere. :D

I threw the small stuff off the hump and the bigger thing at the back is the leftover clay at the end of class. It's usually most moist and difficult (with my lacking skills) to work with, so it's a bit lopsided. :'D The other bigger round thing is a giant lingonberry I did during the very first class some weeks back, just to get reacquainted with clay.

Progress Report - The Last Batch

Soon going to run out of ceramics classes for the spring so these were the last little pots and bottles for now.
The one at the back was the last one I threw and the clay was so wet it was wobbling all over. I had a fit of giggles as I was making it since it looked so ridiculous... Also, the one with the uneven top turned upside down just as I was placing it on the board. I tried to make the top into a flower, but it still looks kinda crappy. Oh well. :D

Progress Report - More Minipottery

5 hours worth of minis. Once they're dry, they'll go into the kiln. Only 3 more weeks of ceramics classes left. Boohoo. I'm planning to go again when they start again in the autumn. :3

Progress Report - Eyes from Ebay, Ceramics on Hold

I sold Pope's eyes a little while back and I've now ordered him a new pair. They're quite different from the last. It will be interesting to see how they fit. I haven't done a lot of doll-related stuff lately, but I'm slowly working on some miniature pottery. Unfortunately the school I've been going to is currently off for a week, so my projects are further delayed. Apparently it also takes quite a bit of time to apply glazing onto tiny tiny vases, bottles and cups... Maybe I'll they'll finally be ready for the kiln next Monday.
